Overall activity aim: Utilise cases studies to distinguish between breast presentations in a primary care setting, establish a diagnosis, develop a management plan and evaluate the level of diagnosis.

Overview: The “Breast Presentation – Case Studies” lecture/webinar is an educational presentation, sourced from peer-reviewed articles, websites and textbooks, for GPs using case studies as talking points for common breast pathology presentations. Breast pathology such as Paget’s disease of the nipple and nipple dermatitis/eczema have similar presentations at times and can be very confusing for GPs. Therefore, the lecture goes through key features to assist GPs in their understanding of the pathology and differentiation. Fibroadenomas are common presentations that GPs manage. The case study provides GPs the opportunity to have a systematic approach in the work-up for these breast masses/lumps and be able to further understand which patients require specialist referral. With Breast Screening, DCIS is a very common presentation that is usually easily managed. However, GPs need to be aware of the controversy underlying Breast Screening.
